September 9-11th The Asia-Pacific Early Christian Studies Society (APECSS) with support of the SUAI Faculty of Humanities held the 10th International Conference ‘Survival of Early Christian Traditions’ (http://christian.hf-guap.ru/index.html).

The first APECSS conference in Russia, it gathered representation from Japan, Australia, South Korea, Russia, South Africa, Belgium, Germany, Greece, and other countries to widen scientific interests and deepen the mutual understanding of scholars in Russia and Asia-Pacific.

Co-chair of the organizing committee, Dr. Kazuhiko Demura (出村和彦), Professor of the Faculty of Letters, Vice-Dean (Research) of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Okayama University, Japan, in his letter expressed gratitude to Professor Dr. Julia Antokhina, SUAI Rector, and Professor Dr. Konstantin Losev, SUAI Vice-Rector for International Affairs, for “the thoughtful considerations and the kind cooperation of SUAI staff members.” The joint effort of the SUAI Faculty of Humanities and the Department of International Affairs provided for the highest level of organization.

Dr. Kazuhiko Demura expressing his cordial gratitude for the hospitality extended during the conference emphasized his “hope that the international collaboration will be developed between SUAI and APECSS and his university.”

Dear Professor Antokhina, Dear Professor Losev,

The 10th International Conference ‘Survival of Early Christian Traditions’ held at your university in September 9-11 was a great success for our Asia-Pacific Early Christian Studies Society (APECSS), thank to your thoughtful considerations and the kind cooperation of SUAI staff members. On behalf of APECSS, I, as a co-chair of the Conference, would express here my cordial gratitude to Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation, the Research and Education Center for Religion, Philosophy and Culture Studies, and the Department of International Affairs.

This conference held in Russia for the first time is very meaningful for widening our scientific interest and deepening the mutual understanding. The participants in the conference were not only from Asia- Pacific regions (Japan, Australia, South Korea) but also from Russia, South Africa, Belgium, Germany, Greece, and other countries. We discussed traditions of early Christian texts and artefacts from multidisciplinary viewpoints of theology and philosophy, religion and culture studies. We are most grateful for the great hospitality you extended to us during the conference.

Thank you again, and I do hope that the international collaboration will be developed between SUAI and APECSS and my university.
